Each Trailblazer team member had a major role in the success of the team and completing the answers to the Mission Folder questions. The team members have lots of talents in different areas – leadership, math, communication, artistic ability, STEM skills, and teamwork. We shared the responsibilities by choosing tasks best suited to each of our talents and experiences, but also learned new things by helping others. Since April, responsibilities for interviews, public speaking, council meetings, and conferences were taken care of by Brett because of his experience in speaking in front of large crowds. Lane handled the organization of meetings, notebooks, journals, and experiment binders since he was a whiz at keeping others on track in a positive way. Writing outdoor curriculum for teachers to use along the trail was the role of Jeffrey because he LOVES working with children. He also enjoys technology and maintains our website. Writing and editing was the job for the whole team, and all members participated in the surveys and interviews across the generations. Brett thought of using the force plates at the New Balance biomechanics center for conducting experiments and took charge of the development of composite materials. Data analysis was completed as a team so each of us would fully understand surface materials, composites, and forces related to outdoor activity. Community work was divided between the three members. Lane covered 1st and 2nd grade, Jeffrey covered 3rd grade, and Brett covered intermediate students. These three age groups involved children most likely to join the adventures and eventually use the trail.
